A popular Yoruba movie sensation Ajara Lasisi has died.
Popularly called Aunty Ajara, she reportedly passed on in the early hours of Thursday after a prolonged battle with illness.
NPO Reports that her colleagues in the movie industry had two weeks ago called for financial help after the actress was said to have been diagnosed with an undisclosed ailment.
Ajara’s health had in the past weeks deteriorated despite medical treatment and assistance from other Nollywood actors.
Adeniyi Johnson, one of the actors who had solicited for financial assistance for her shared of video of the hospitalised actress.
As seen in the video, Auntie Ajara was place on oxygen.
She managed to utter a plea to her fans and Nigerians for their support.

Johnson in the post admitted that he and his colleagues done all they could to assist the ailing actress.
Aunty Ajara’s death was confirmed by Nollywood director, Tobi Oladele Teemony,
As contained in in a statement shared on his Instagram page, Teemony disclosed that the actress died overnight.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who stood by her with prayers, contributions, encouragement, and compassion,” he wrote.
Tee Monyalso urged members of the public to stop sending donations to the account previously shared for her treatment, stating that financial contributions were “no longer required”.
He further attached a video of Ajara’s elder brother, Ridwan Lasisi, who also confirmed the death of the actress.
“Good morning to you all. My name is Ridwan Lasisi. I am a brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on.
“All the families, we are using this period to appreciate you all. We appreciate the president and all industry members.
“We also use this opportunity to appeal to those sending money not to send it anymore. The one we are contributing for her sake is no more. Thank you so much. We do not want you to send money into that account again.” He said.
