Iranian state media has on Monday reported that the wife of Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died from injuries sustained during the recent U.S.-Israeli airstrikes in Iran.
According to Press TV, she was wounded during the joint military operation carried out on Saturday and later succumbed to her injuries after days in critical condition.
Recall that NPO had reported that her husband, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was also killed during the strikes launched against Iran by the United States.
Israeli newspaper, Times of Israel identified the deceased as Mansoureh Khojasteh, aged 78, reported that she had been in a coma since the strikes. The report said Khojasteh married Khamenei in 1964.
Shortly after the attacks, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and several Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted on X from the U.S. Central Command, (CENTCOM) the latest casualty had been critically wounded during Iran’s initial counterattacks and later died from those injuries. Three other U.S. military deaths were confirmed over the weekend.
“Major combat operations continue, and our response effort is ongoing,” CENTCOM said.
President Trump, speaking on Sunday, warned that further casualties were possible as the conflict continues.
He said the U.S. was preparing for a prolonged operation and urged Americans to brace for additional losses.
