As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has called on muslim faithful to uphold the values of piety, unity, and compassion cultivated during the holy month.
This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.
The President congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe, noting that the period of fasting and reflection offers enduring lessons for both personal growth and national development.
He urged Muslims to remain committed to the virtues of selflessness, perseverance, and kindness, stressing that these principles are essential in strengthening social cohesion and fostering a more inclusive society.
“We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this. We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period,” the President said.
Tinubu also encouraged acts of generosity towards the less privileged, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, describing such gestures as vital to promoting unity and shared humanity.
He further called on Muslim leaders to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr to offer prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
