The Supreme Court is set to open its application portal for the employment of Notary Public.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the apex court’s Chief Registrar, Kabir Akanbi.
According to the statement, the portal will be opened for eligible legal practitoners from the 1st of April till the 30th of June.
Apllicants are to submit their application online via www.notary.supremecourt.gov.ng
The apex court however warned against late submission of application, stating that such application will not be accepted.
As described by the Society of Notaries Public, a notary public is a person authorized to perform certain legal formalities, especially to draw up or certify contracts, deeds, and other documents for use in other jurisdictions.
The officer is often appointed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, to serve the public as an unbiased witness on legal documents and affirmations.
They are senior members of the Nigerian Bar Association who have been called to the Bar for at least seven years before they are appointed as a Notary Public.
The primary function of a notary is the preparation of documents and authentication of clients’ identities and signatures principally for use locally or abroad.
