The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has arrived in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, for an official visit focused on security operations and troop morale.
This marks General Oluyede’s first visit to Zamfara since assuming office as Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff on October 30, 2025.
He was received at the headquarters of Operation Fansan Yamma by the Theatre Commander, Major General Waidi Idris. Upon arrival, the CDS inspected a guard of honour mounted by troops of the military operation.
During the visit, General Oluyede is expected to receive a briefing on the ongoing military campaign against criminal elements in Zamfara State and other areas under the responsibility of Operation Fansan Yamma.
The defence chief is also scheduled to visit frontline troops in selected locations as part of efforts to assess operations.
Later in the day, General Oluyede is expected to meet with Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House in Gusau.
