Three suspects apprehended over the murder of a Plateau state traditional ruler have been set ablaze by angry mob.
The suspects alleged to be involved in the killing of one Ponzhi Kwallak, a traditional ruler in Langtang North Local Government Area of the state were burnt to death on Friday.
According to reports, the suspects who are also indigenes of the community were alleged to have stormed Ponzhi’s residence on Thursday night.
They alleged shot the monarch dead before stealing his motorcycle and mobile phone.
The incident, which initially sparked tension and speculation within the community, was reportedly first attributed to external attackers (fulani bandits).
However, preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects were allegedly from within the community.
The suspects, according to security sources, were apprehended on Friday while attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle.
Following their arrest, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime while being interrogated.
They would however meet their tragic end after the angry mob intercepted the security operatives taking the suspects into custody near the Langtang North Local Government Council Secretariat.
The mob overpowered the security operatives who were forced to release the suspects for jungle justice.
They were set ablaze by the mob with disturbing pictures shared on X showing their charred bodies lying beneath burnt woods and other inflammable items.
