Human Rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has paid tribute to late Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, describing him as a rare talent.
NPO Reported that the news of the actor’s death surfaced online on Tuesday with claims that he died after prolonged battle with cancer.
The tragic development had left many Nollywood fans in shock.
With many of Nollywood actors and actresses eventually confirming his death, tribute had since begun to flow in honour of Ekubo.
Reacting to the news of the actor’s demise in a post on his X handle, Sowore expressed his condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
The 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate recalled watching one of his movies during a flight to Dubai.
He described him as a rare talent whose presence lit up the screen effortlessly.
“My profound condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Nollywood star @AlexxEkubo , who I understand passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer.
“I never met him personally, but I still cannot forget a movie of his I watched on an Emirates flight from New York to Dubai en route to Nairobi.
“He was a rare talent whose presence lit up the screen effortlessly. May he rest in power!” Sowore wrote.
