The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth over N1.9 billion linked to former Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, following his conviction for money laundering and abuse of office.
Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, granting the application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for the permanent forfeiture of funds, shares, and properties traced to the former AGF.
The assets forfeited to the Federal Government include shares valued at N1,941,805,342, cash totaling N288,590,749, and a five-bedroom duplex located at No. 20 City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja.
The EFCC had filed a Motion on Notice dated April 1, 2026, seeking the confiscation of assets listed in three schedules after Nwabuoku was convicted on March 23, 2026.
The former Acting Accountant General was sentenced on all nine counts bordering on money laundering and abuse of office.
According to the anti-graft agency, the forfeited funds were traced to accounts linked to several companies, including: Temeeo Synergy Concept Limited, Turge Global Investment Limited, Laptev Bridge Limited, Arrafura Transnational Afro Ltd
The schedule also included N220 million refunded by Nwabuoku into the EFCC Recovery Account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Justice Omotosho held that the court found the assets and funds to be proceeds of unlawful activities based on the earlier judgment against the former AGF.
The judge subsequently ordered the permanent forfeiture of all the listed assets to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The forfeited property includes a luxury five-bedroom duplex in Abuja’s City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, alongside shares in multiple security companies valued at nearly N2 billion as of March 29, 2026.
