Leaders of the South-West of the All Progressive Congress have met all presidential aspirants from the zone to ensure that the race comes down to three.
At a meeting of the leaders which was spearheaded by former National Chairman of the party Chief Bisi Akande and former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, it was agreed that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Governor Bola Tinubu and Governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi should be the last to be presented to the national leadership as the choices of the zone.
NPO Reports gathered that the leaders arrived at their position owing to what a source said the inability to read correctly the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president had last night during a meeting with all presidential aspirants, advised the aspirants to meet and build consensus ahead of the Tuesday primaries to reduce acrimony within the party members.
His admonition had come after governors of the North had said they were conceding the presidency to the South.
One of the leaders who attended the meeting told NPO Reports this morning that “at this stage, it is a very dicey thing. We are being conscious of what goes on in the mind of the man (referring to Buhari).
“But at the centre of it all we must ensure the unity of Yoruba. It is difficult to tell anyone to step down if he does not want to. But we are seeking more ways to see how we can manage this situation in the new few more hours that we have,”
