Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Davido Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fired back at former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, who trolled him for not winning the prestigious Grammy Awards.
Bashir, who served under the administration of the late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, had in a back-to-back post with Davido taunted the OBO crooner over his failure to secure Grammy out of his five nominations.
The troll stemmed out of Davido’s post on Thursday where he disclosed being present when President Bola Tinubu called his uncle and Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, informing the governor of his decision to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to unfreeze the account of the state government.
Recall that the EFCC had on Wednesday ordered the freezing of Osun state government’s account with barely less than nine days to the governorship election.
This had widely been considered a politically calculated move by the Tinubu-led APC administration in an alleged bid to frustrate Adeleke as the party seeks to take him out of power at the August 15 poll.
The President had in reaction in a personal statement issued on Thursday expressed disappointment with the EFCC over the timing of the action as he directed the anti-graft agency to vacate the order.
Meanwhile, Davido, in a post on his X handle revealed that Tinubu had called Adeleke to inform him of his decision.
‘I was there live ! I witnessed history !!!’ the singer wrote.
Commenting on the post, Bashir claimed to have bookmarked Davido’s post as he held that the singer will come back to lament when his uncle gets defeated at the poll.
‘U got 16 votes bro in primaries STFU!!’ He wrote.
Also not backing down in the heated argument, Bashir taunted Davido with his failure to win Grammys out of five nominations.
‘We have talked enough about the number of votes I got in my primaries.
‘Can we now talk about the number of Grammy Awards you have won from your five nominations, David?’ He wrote.
The comment prompted another lengthy reaction from Davido who maintained that he does not measure success with one award as he recounted his sold-out concerts and global influence.
