The Osun state governorship election holding today has recorded significant cases of violence spread across different parts of the state.
Cases of gunshots, hoodlums’s attacks on polling units, resistances to arrests, destruction of properties are on the rise as at noon on Saturday.
This was as turnout was however high voters trooped out in their huge numbers many of them ready to defy alleged intimidations and possible arrests.
In Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area of the state, some residents had cried out over some security men who wore masks shooting into the air and carting away voting materials from the RAC Centre Modakeke.
Angry residents had confronted the security men who were said to be “fake” as they stormed the centre and tried to scare away voters by shooting into the air.
It could not be ascertained as at press time if anyone was injured in the shooting. In the same vein, hoodlums in their numbers, were said to have unleashed violence at the polling unit where the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Najeem Salam voted on Saturday destroying the voting materials.
In the process, a number of vehicles said to belong to ADC and Accord members were destroyed while many scampered for safety.
