President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries and immediate arrest of an impostor as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) discovered a new fake agency.
In a latest development on the ongoing investigation into alleged fake government agencies and procedural weaknesses in Nigeria’s public service, the ICPC reportedly discovered the existence of another fake agency identified as the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office.
The discovery followed the controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Meanwhile, the ICPC discovered that new fake agency was operating inside the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) without presidential authorisation.
John Odey said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
As quoted in a statement issued commission’s spokesperson, John Odey, the ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, identified one Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as the alleged promoter of the agency.
Musa reportedly disclosed that Tinubu had in reaction ordered Nwabueze’s immediate arrest and suspended three Permanent Secretaries identified as M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
According to him, the suspected promoter of the fake agency, Mr George Nwabueze, has been discovered to operate under four variants of his name, Prince George Buch Nwabueze, l George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.
” Upon Friday’s briefing, Tinubu ordered the arrest of the said Mr George Buchi Nwabueze as well as the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries in the OSGF
” The suspended permanent secretaries include MS Danjuma, Nandungu Gagare and Richard Pheelangwa,” he said.
He said that the ICPC remained committed to the rule of law and due process in the fight against corruption.
