A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has accused the party of not rewarding those who are committed to it.
Igbokwe said those who spend their resources to promote and work for the party even at very difficult times are sidelined when the critical times come.
He expressed worries this might have adverse effects.
He stated aftermath of the release of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 general elections.
The council list, which comprises of 422 members, was released on Friday by the PCC Secretary, James Faleke, a federal lawmaker.
The likes of Femi Fani Kayode, who defected to the APC last year and Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Chimaroke Nnamani, who was a member of the PDP made the list.
Reacting, Igbokwe in a post on his Facebook page said, ”All things considered APC Nigeria poor reward system in Nigeria worries me to the marrows.
”The party rewards idle people, hangers-on, layabouts, interlopers, cowards, onlookers etc.”
Further clarifying his stand on the post,Igbokwe stated that the post has nothing to do with him not in the list but about the countless numbers of people who have been slaving for APC even in most difficult times.
Igbokwe was reacting to one of the reactions under the post,”@Emeka Ogbonna,I wonder why an indefatigable die hard APC member, former ACN/APC PRO in Lagos is not in the APC Campaign team. You’re eminently qualified to play a key role in the team. I don’t know any Igbo man (who’s active online) who doesn’t know about your commitment to your party. Yet people like FFK and Chimaroke Nnamani of PDP are there. It’s a shame!”
Igbokwe’s response,”Emeka Ogbonna,I am not talking about myself . I have job in Lagos and my hands are full . I am talking about the hundreds I know who have been slaving for APC even in most difficult times. The buy their data. They repair phones or buy new phones. Bigots, haters , cultural savages, workers of iniquity etc abuse them hours on end. They have calm, committed and resilient.”
