The spokesman of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, has alleged that Governor Wike of Rivers State chased Peter Obi, Governor David Umahi and others out of the PDP.
Bwala made the allegation on Wednesday while appearing Channels TV Sunrise Daily Programme.
Governor Wike and his allies better known as ‘integrity group’ are at loggerheads with the leadership of the main opposition party since the presidential primary.
The group are calling for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu claiming that both presidential candidate and national chairman can not come from the same zone.
Justifying his claim on Wednesday, Bwala said all of Wike’s promise to provide logistics to Obi and Kwankwaso was a mere distraction.
He said:“If you say you are providing logistics, for example, Peter Obi, whom you chased out of the party, you are providing logistics to Kwankwaso…
“I will give you an instance because, at a time, there was an agitation by the elders of the party from the Southeast that power should be zoned. And I recall Atiku Abubakar even had a conversation where he said if we are talking about zoning that the two zones that should benefit are either the Southeast or the Northeast, and if it was zoned to the Southeast, he (Atiku) was never going to run.
“So he (Wike) has always been saying that he is not an Igbo, even though some people said he is. So because of that, If it was zoned to the Southeast, he was shut out, and he could not run for president, and therefore, this idea of Peter Obi, who participated in 2019 as a vice presidential candidate, if it was zoned, he is going to emerge.”

Speaking further Bwala said Wike’s non-support won’t affect the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s chances of winning next year’s election.
He insisted that, the party in on the path of winning next year’s elections with or without Wike’s input.
“Our party is poised to win the election. Wike’s non-participation would affect a little bit of the margin. So, if we are supposed to win with nine million votes or eight million votes, that may reduce to six million votes or something like that,” he said
“But this victory is destined by God and I can tell you that there can be conspiracy and collaboration or anything. We know the Electoral Amendment Act and what it brings. We saw it in Osun where some members of our party even worked against the party in that state.
“But what happened? The ‘Dancing Senator’ (Ademola Adeleke) danced his way to victory because the people spoke and their voices were held. This is how we are going to be looking at this election because the bigger picture is what we are looking at. Have you not seen the multi-dimensional poverty index?”
