“We would not take this priceless opportunity for granted, as we remain fully committed towards ensuring an even development and a better future for our dear State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has on Sunday declared the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, winner of the governorship poll that took place on Saturday.
While Abiodun scored 276,298 votes, his closest rival, Ladi Adebutu, scored 262,383 votes. Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Biyi Otegbeye, also scored a total of 94,754.
Otegbeye had the backing of the former Governor of Ogun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The announcement was made by the Chief Returning Officer, Prof Kayode Adebowale.
In his first reaction after the election, Abiodun said, “With a deep sense of gratitude and a heart full of appreciation, we sincerely say a BIG THANK YOU to the good people of Ogun State for entrusting us with yet another four-year mandate.
“We would not take this priceless opportunity for granted, as we remain fully committed towards ensuring an even development and a better future for our dear State. ”
