A newly inducted nurse, Omoniyi Boluwatife has been gruesomely murdered by yet-to-be identified assailants with her womb harvested in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
She was found dead and her body had been evacuated by the police.
According to reports, Boluwatife, a graduate of Lead City University, was on Tuesday inducted into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
She had reportedly gone to celebrate her recent induction into the nursing profession at a nightclub on Tuesday night before she was later found dead.
In a viral video, the remains of Boluwatife were seen on the floor.
A source who spoke with NPOReports on a condition of anonymity said that prior to the night the incident happened, Boluwatife accompanied her mother to the motor park after she travelled from Port Harcourt to join her in the celebration.
“Boluwatife was a member of my church. In fact, she gave testimony about her graduation last week Sunday after she cleared the carry-over course delaying her graduation. She was a gentle person, and to hear the news of her death broke me,” the source said
Reacting, the club where she reportedly went, Copacapana Club, denied that the incident happened within its premises, adding that its management would not take responsibility for incidents that occur outside its premises.
A disclaimer by the management of the club on Friday, said, “It saddens our heart to hear about the tragic event that happened to some customers after leaving our facility.
“Although our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families but it’s important to clarify that the incident did not happen in our facility and neither was anyone trailed from our facility.
“The appropriate authorities are on top of the situation as we write and we believe that justice will be served at the end of their investigation.
“Our nightclub prioritizes the safety of all our patrons. Our venue is equipped with top-notch security systems, making it one of the most protected facilities in the city of Ibadan.”
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, proved abortive as calls and messages to his mobile telephone were neither answered nor replied as at the time of filing this report.
