The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi has on Thursday morning given order that the ministry entrance should be locked against some members of staff who came late to work.
According to the information gathered by the NPOReports, the minister, who arrived his office around 7:45am, gave the order that the two gates should be under padlocks immediately it’s 8:00am.
The order had caught some workers numbering about 100 unaware as many were seen to be strolling in only to meet the situation. Our correspondent who witnessed the situation observed that those caught in the web were making frantic calls to some of their colleagues who were already inside the offices to know what exactly was the cause of the order.
Some of those locked out also included visitors who had come for one reason or the other to the ministry.
Some of the affected workers blamed their lateness on fuel subsidy removal saying that the cost of transportation and other basic things have grown up while salary is yet to be reviewed.
