Defending champion, Senegal, has began their title defense with a comfortable 3-0 victory over 10-man Gambia in group C opener.
The Terenga Lions wasted no time as Pape Gueye’s 4th minute header puts them into an early lead at Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Yamoussokro, Cote D’Ivoire.
Things would quickly go from bad to worse for the Gambians as they were reduced to 10-man following Ebou Adams red card towards the first half.
Capitalizing on their opponent’s shortage of player, Senegal extended their lead courtesy Lamina Camara’s 52 minutes goal.
The dominant defending champion gave no room for the Gambia as they kept pestering the opponent’s goal mouth.
They eventually sealed the victory with a second goal from Lamina Camara in the 86th minute.
The win sees Senegal top the Group C table pending the time Cameroon takes on Guinea later today.
