Operatives of the police command in Abuja have arrested a man who faked his own kidnap on Saturday as a ploy to defraud his own brother.
NPO Reports there was pandemonium after some police officers stormed the River Park Estate while trying to arrest the man who had faked a kidnap for his brother who lived in the state to pay ransom.
Peace was temporarily disrupted in the estate as many residents thought there was a kidnap case. Many residential estates in the Federal Capital Territory have come under siege in recent times, with abduction of residents.
While some have been killed, some others have been rescued after payment of ransom.
Police command spokesman in the FCT, Josephine Adeh, in a statement said the suspect is already in the custody of the command and assisting investigators to get to the root of the matter. He said, ” As Brother Fakes Kidnap to Defraud Family.
The FCT police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the early hours of today and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.
One Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.
“The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.
“While investigation is still ongoing, further developmentd would be communicated to the public.
