Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has charged the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs Kemi Nandap, to be vigilant and keep the nation’s borders safe especially with the current security challenges facing the country.
Tunji-Ojo gave the charge while decorating the new C-G on Friday in Abuja.
The minister enjoined the comptroller-General to be active and lead by example.
He said, “I will judge you by how well you protect the nation’s boarder because the safety of the country depends on how well its border is secured.
“Mind you, talking of the security architecture of the country, NIS has a prominent role to play so, be very creative and innovative,’’ he said.
“With the few months I have worked with you, you won my trust. By virtue of your knowledge, your knowhow, President Bola Tinubu believes in you too, as such be fair and just,“
The minister further urged her to strive harder by putting in her best to succeed.
“If you have been working 12 hours before, this is the time to increase it for the betterment of the service and the country at large,” the minister added.
In her remarks, the new C-G, thanked President Tinubu for granting her the opportunity to serve as the 19th Comptroller-General of NIS.
Nandap pledged to be innovative in order to take the service to greater heights.
“I will do everything humanly possible to bring about effective border management control by integrating cutting-edge technology in the nation’s boarders”.
