It was an emotional laden event as the remains of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, late Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, were interred at his Aliiwo ancestral home today
The late monarch, who reigned for two years, died at the age of 81 on Thursday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, after a brief illness.
The state deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, led other government functionaries to the family burial ground at Aliiwo in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state.
The Olubadan in council was led by the Otun Olubadan, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja whom other dignitaries joined to pay their last respects to the departed monarch.
The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere, took charge as he led Islamic leaders in the two-rakat Janazat prayer, the Islamic prayer, offering prayers for the late Monarch.
Balogun was a former federal legislator in the upper chambers and a businessman before ascending the throne.
The first-class traditional ruler ascended the throne on March 11, 2022, after the demise of his predecessor, Saliu Adetunji.
