Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps have destroyed alcoholic drinks worth one million Naira during a raid on Olupese Terminal Park and Oshodi-Bolade Garages earlier today.
The agency, popularly known as KAI, disclosed this in a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Advocacy, Ajayi Lukman.
According to the statement, the agency had embarked on the raid as part of concerted efforts undertaken by the State Government to mitigate the trend of alcohol consumption by commercial drivers across different parks and garages in the State.
Reinstating the ban of alcoholic drinks across the state’s public motor parks, the agency’s Corps Marshall, Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole, disclosed that the traders of the alcoholic drinks have been arrested and will be prosecuted.
‘‘these drinks remain banned for sale in all parks and garages of the State and the street traders who have since been arrested will be prosecuted in accordance with the State Environmental Laws’’. He said.
Recall that NPO Reports the Federal Road Safety Corp’s vow to commence arrest of drunk drivers on account of an accident involving a drunk driver and two pedestrian at Ogun state last week.
