As the 2024 Edo governorship election progresses to the D-Day, drama has again unfold following the emergence of alleged claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) National Commissioner in charge of the Edo election, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, is a registered member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
This was disclosed in a post by Human Rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, on his X handle in reaction to Gumus’ claim being incorruptible while speaking in an interview on Channels TV.
Commenting on the video clip of the broadcast which was posted on X, Adeyanju shared a party membership form of the APC which contained the name of the INEC Commissioner.
As seen in the form with serial number 58315, Gumus allegedly registered with APC on the 27th of March, 2021.
However, the Commissioner had during the interview yesterday claimed that nobody can induce her.
“I cannot take bribe no matter how much…I don’t have to take a N1 billion to do what is right. I will do right. Nobody will try to induce me” She had said.
