Commuters along Iyana-Oworo axis of Lagos were held to a sudden halt as a driver collided with herd of cattle, leaving two cows dead.
This was confirmed by Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in a post on their official X handle on Sunday.
According to LASTMA, the cows had, in an attempt to cross the road, collided with an oncoming Sport Utility Vehicle.
While causing damage to the vehicle, the cows died at the spot, disrupting the flow of traffic.
“An Acura SUV (AAA 818 HV) collided with two cows, resulting in the death of the animals and significant damage to the vehicle.
“The accident occurred today at Iyana-Oworo, inward Ogudu, where a herd of cattle were crossing the highway.” The post read.
In a separate development, five persons sustained various degrees of injury following collison between two vehicles.
According to LASTMA the incident, which occured at Ifako Bridge, along Ogudu area of Lagos state, involved an unpainted commercial Mazda bus (MUS 576 YJ) and a Korope mini-bus (FKJ 618).
Preliminary investigations reveal that the driver of the Mazda bus, distracted by eating while driving, lost concentration and subsequently lost control of the vehicle.
This lapse in focus was exacerbated by a sudden brake failure, resulting in the unfortunate collision.
Meanwhile, officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded swiftly, rescuing five injured individuals—one male and four females—from the Mazda bus.
