The case of embattled Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has become subject matter for discourse amongst African Scholars.
As seen in a post on X on, Thursday, students from Michigan State University’s African Study Centre organized a webinar themed “Being and Becoming Bobrisky”
The programme is slated for the 2nd of November 2024 and will be held via Zoom.
Keynote address titled ” Africa’s Second Struggle for Freedom: The Legal Subject Revisited” will be delivered by Prof. Olufemi Taiwo from Cornell University.
Panelists for the event include Rudolf Gaudio, Purchase College, New York, Adunni Adelakun, UT, Texas, Austin, Matthias Krings, University of Mainz, Paul Onanuga, University of Oye-Ekiti, Ololade Faniyi, Emory University, Bukola Ochei, University of Ibadan/University of Michigan, Oluwayinka Arawomo, Millikin University, and Nneoma Onwuegbuchi, University of Wisconsin.
This is coming on the heels of the ongoing bribery and corruption scandal involving Bobrisky, the Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
