The All Progress Congress Governors’ Forum has talked down and declined supporting any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The forum in a close-door meeting held on Monday resolved to strictly support only APC candidates at all levels of the 2027 General Election.
Imo State Governor and chairman of the forum, Hope Uzodinma, made this known while presenting the communque of the meeting to newsmen.
In what has widely been considered as a direct jab at the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his rainbow coalition of the Peoples Democratic Party and the APC chapters in Rivers State, Uzodinma held that the forum’s support is exclusive to only APC candidates.
‘That each member will not participate in support or endorse any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining the re-election of Mr. President, weakening the APC or adversely affecting any candidate of the party at all levels.
‘In other words, the forum has no intention to support any candidate at any level that is not an APC candidate because the election and our candidates are standing as being sponsored by our father.’
‘The Governors Campaign Committee is exculsively to all the APC candidates. No arrangement that creates confusion, divided loyalty, or conflicting interests within the party will be entertained.’ He said.
Uzodinma added that the campaign structure of the party will strictly be designed in alignment with Tinubu’s directive, freezing out any chances of the party supporting candidates contesting under the Wike-backed PDP faction.
‘Integrated and locally responsive campaign structure, all levels of the party’s campaign structure will align with the dictates of Mr. President.’ The Imo governor said.
