FG Set to Commence Campaigns Against Ritual Killings The Federal Government says it plans to inaugurate a national sensitisation campaign against ritual murders soon. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this on Monday in Abuja when he paid official visit to the headquarters of Daily Trust Newspaper. A Point-of-Sale operator, Thomas Success, who allegedly received a ransom on behalf of kidnappers, was on Monday, arraigned at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State. Success, 30, who was arraigned on a two-count charge of receiving ransom and stealing, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences. A faith-based organisation, Kwara Muslim Youths, on Monday, demanded for N113,388,000 compensation from the State Government to the family of late Habeeb Idris. Idris was allegedly killed during the Hijab crisis that rocked Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of the state. Malam Abdurrazzaq Al-Amin, the Chairman of the group, made the demand at a news conference in Ilorin on Monday. Al-Amin explained that the compensation is known in Islam as blood money (Diyyah). A no-fly zone declared by Russia over the Sea of Azov has come into effect. Moscow issued the NOTAM (Notice to airmen) late on Sunday night barring commercial airliners from the area, which borders the crucial Ukrainian port of Mariupol, close to the line of contact between Ukrainian and pro-Russian separatist forces. The move comes as a flotilla of Russian ships entered the sea on Sunday. On Monday, authorities in Kyiv announced that 10 European airlines have suspended or cancelled flights to the country. Kenya’s telecommunication industry regulator on Monday said that it would roll out 5G Network on a pilot basis in 2022. The Kirikiri Depot Owners Association on Monday denied hiking the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, amidst the current scarcity of the product across the country. Its Secretary, Mr. Simeon Anabor, said in Lagos that the ex-depot price of petrol was still being controlled by the regulatory agency and had not been increased. The ex-depot price is the price at which marketers buy products at the depot, and determines how much they sell to motorists. A 22-year-old student, Moses Okoh, was on Monday docked in a High Court in Jos for allegedly killing his 20-year-old girlfriend, Jennifer Anthony. The police accused Okoh, an undergraduate of the University of Jos, committing the offence on Dec. 31, 2021, when he killed Anthony and removed her eyes and other human parts. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, refused to grant an application for bail filed by the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari. Justice Inyang Ekwo, who declined to grant the plea in a motion ex-parte brought by Kyari’s Lawyer, C. O.
