The Police Command in Oyo State, on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of officers allegedly involved in shooting Samuel Akinsuyi, a student at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State. Akinsuyi, a student of Business Administration Department of the Polytechnic was allegedly shot on the leg by a police officer on Friday on his way from Eruwa to Ibadan, during a stop and search operation. No fewer than 22,627 students are expected to graduate as the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) holds its 11th convocation on March 26. A statement signed by the Registrar, Mr. Felix Edoka, said the ceremony would be held simultaneously across the university’s 103 study centres across the country. “The on-site and off-site mode of convocation has been adopted for this year’s ceremony, which is unprecedented in the history of NOUN,” Edoka said. The Peoples Democratic Party has shifted its National Executive Committee meeting earlier slated for today to Wednesday, March 16. According to the party, the postponement was due to the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2023 elections and the manifesto drafting committee. The Police in Lagos State have arrested Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, a.k.a. Erelu Okin for the controversial Lagos party. The organizer distributed kegs of petrol as souvenir at Havilah Events Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island, on March 4. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says fresh registration in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) is 7,009,343 as at 7 a.m on March 14. The commission in the Quarter 3, Week 10 update released on Monday in Abuja, also disclosed that the registrants who had completed their registration was 4,009,361 out of which 1,687,540 were done online and 2,321,821 physical. The update also disclosed that of registrants who completed their registration, 2,009,469 were male and 1,999,892 female, while 33,985 were People Living With Disabilities (PWDs).
