The Super Falcons of Nigeria has advance to the final of 2024 Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) courtesy a late screamer from Michelle Alozie.
Nigeria’s dream of obtaining a tenth WAFCON trophy nears reality as the Super Falcons edged past arch rival, South Africa, in 2-1 victory on Tuesday.
The team’s captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, put Nigeria in the lead from the spot at first half.
However, the Super Falcons gifted South Africans a penalty after one of their players got fouled in the box by Nigerian defender.
The spot kick was neatly converted to bring the game to levels term in the second half.
A collision which led to an horrific injury to a South African player tend to have weakened the team as Alozie’s lob shot from the midfield scrambled into the net with barely two left before full time.
