A newly completed building on Wednesday came down in the Mushin area of Lagos state trapping some of the occupants in the process.
However, the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA said no one died in the incident just as it confirmed that seven persons who were trapped under the rubbles were rescued alive.
According to NEMA, the agency got a distress call during the heavy downpour in the early hours of the day prompting its officials to race down to the scene.
“On arrival and after making enquiries, it was discovered that the affected building was a newly completed two storey building which suddenly collapsed this morning.
“The incident occurred during the heavy rainfall that the State experienced today. Seven persons were trapped and rescued alive; three female and 4 male, two people had minor injuries while five sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.
“The collapsed building partially affected a nearby bungalow. The collapsed building and the affected adjoining building had earlier been marked for structural testing by LASBCA.”
Lagos had witnessed long hours of heavy downpour on Wednesday leading to flood in many parts of the state.
Wednesday’s incident in Mushin few days after another similar incident at the Igando area of Lagos.
