The Nigerian Football Federation has sacked the Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, and all other members of the female national team’s technical crew.
This is coming days after the Super Falcons’ defeat to South Africa ending their hope of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Having lost out on the automatic ticket with their abysmal performance at the 2026 Women African Cup of Nations where they lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual winner of the tournament, Cameroon, Nigeria faced South Africa for World Cup Play-off.
They were however beaten by the Bayana Bayana, a defeat which saw not qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in over a decade.
In the wake of the defeat, the NFF set up a panel to investigate the cause of the poor performance by the Super Falcons.
While the result of the inquiry is yet to be released, the federation in a post on its X handle on Monday announced the sacking of Madugu and the technical crew.
The coach and the crew are to step down with immediate effect.
‘The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect.’ The statement read.
