A violent clash has erupted between Hausa and Yoruba residents of Ibadan with several properties set ablaze.
The clash reportedly occurred at the Ojoo area of the Oyo capital city following a fatal stabbing of a Yoruba tricycle engineer by a Hausa man on Wednesday.
Some structures located in the Ojoo area of Ibadan the Oyo State Capital were set on fire as some residents clashed on Wednesday.
The clash was said to have erupted among Yoruba and Hausa traders and residents alike in the area where people of diverse ethnic backgrounds had co-habited for decades.
Videos shared on X showed several shops owned by the Hausa traders set ablaze in the course of the clash.
The violent clash had also left several traders wounded with a video showed a man soaked in blood coming out of a deep cut around his neck.
Meanwhile, the police and other security operatives had since been deployed to the community to deescalate the tension with teargas reportedly fired to disperse the mob.
The clash had also led to traffic gridlock along the road as motorists were forced to park their vehicles.
