•As Sola Enikanolaye Becomes Minister of State
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This is coming a month after the resignation of Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in the 2027 Genersl Elections.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Informstion and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s elevation saw her drop her role as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
In her stead, President Bola Tinubu nominated Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The President’s nomination of Enikanolaiye is however subject to Senate confirmation.
Until his nomination, Enikanolaiye who hailed from Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
The ministerial nominee is a distinguished diplomat and seasoned public servant with over three decades of exemplary service in Nigeria’s foreign service.
He previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held key diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
According to Onanuga, the President noted that the appointments are part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture.
Tinubu congratulated the appointees and urged them to work diligently to promote Nigeria’s national interest, advance economic diplomacy, foster regional stability, and safeguard the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad.
