Amidst worsening nationwide protests, President Bola Tinubu on Monday suspended the weekly Federal Executive Council Meeting to hold an emergency security meeting.
This was just as protesters reconvened with new energy on Monday insisting that nationwide protests against hunger and alleged bad governance must continue.
In Lagos, protesters resumed agitation at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park saying they would not quit until their demands are met.
Not even the arrival of the Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade at the scene was enough to stop the protesters.
In Kaduna, protesters took over the Kawo area chanting anti-government solidarity songs.
In Kano, protesters also continued with their agitation.
Hoisters of Russian flags continued to produce more putting them up in different corners of the ancient city on Monday .
Some ministers in the cabinet of the president had reportedly arrived at the Villa for the weekly meeting only to be informed that the meeting would not hold.
The president was said to have summoned the security chiefs to the Villa over the growing concerns on protests.
Tinubu had on Sunday addressed Nigerians on the protests asking organisers to bring it to an end.
Tinubu had also lamented the killings and destruction of properties that accompanied the protests.l
He said these were contrary to promises by the organisers of the protests.
