The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike has disclosed that he had invited President Muhammad Buhari to commission project in the state.
Others invited by the Governor include, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
While Buhari will be in the state on Friday, Governor Wike will play a host to Oshiomole, Obi and Kwankwaso on Wednesday, Thursday and Monday.
Wike disclosed this on Monday during the commissioning of Peter Odili Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Center situated in Portharcourt.
Oshiomhole is scheduled to commission the Rumuepirikom Flyover in Obio/Akpor on Wednesday while Obi will inaugurate the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

This is not the first time Wike invited opposition party stalwarts to commission projects in Rivers. In August, the Rivers governor invited his Lagos counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterline Junction) flyover in Port Harcourt.
Wike had also invited Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the host of other personalities in the country.
Wike and his allies which include Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu States have at loggerheads with the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, calling for the resignation of Iyorcha Ayu as the National Chairman of the party.
However, Ayu, a Benue indigene, has insisted that he won’t step down till the end of his four-year tenure, even as the G5 makes his resignation a precondition to support Adamawa-born Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential ambition.
While Wike and his allies have not been seen to campaign for Atiku, it is not clear whether they will support APC’s Bola Tinubu Obi in the contest for Aso Rock’s top job which has been described by analysts and keen observers as a three-horse race.
