Causes Traffic Gridlock

No fewer than eight people have been confirmed dead on Thursday morning in a multiple accident involving some articulated vehicles along Lagos-Ibadan highway.
The accidents happened on the popular Kara Bridge outward Ibadan.
As confirmed in a statement issued by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) the accident saw a truck and a container laden trailer erupted in flames while another truck spilt its contents (cartons of biscuits) on the road.
Also involved in the chain reaction of multiple crash was a container laden truck which ran onto the barrier with it’s carrier falling off the bridge into the river.
This had led to the blockade of the entire road at Kara Bridge inward Mowe thereby causing traffic gridlock.
Effort is however ongoing by LASTMA officials and emergency responders for recovery and evacuation of the vehicles involved.

The traffic backlog has extended to Ogunnusi road along the expressway.
The heavy traffic left thousands of commuters going to work stranded.

Emergency Officials of both Ogun and Lagos were seen attempting to remove the debris while some of the survivors were taken to hospitals.
In one of the scenes, it could not be ascertained if some corpses seen were in one of the articulated vehicles or in another vehicle which was also caught in the wreckage.
