CLAIM:
A claim has gone viral that former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, said the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Prof Mahmud Yakubu sneaked into Lagos on the night of Saturday February 25 for an unknown reason.
The claim, which has gone viral on social media, quoted George as asking Nigerians to demand from the INEC boss what was his mission in Lagos on Saturday.
FINDINGS:
NPO Reports contacted George for his reaction over the claims. He was angry that the viral message has created undue tension.
“Do I run a control tower to know who flew when? I entered my house by 7pm yesterday. So, what is my business with INEC chairman and his movements?
“This thing you people call fake news is too bad. How can someone sit down and cook such a thing?”
NPO Reports also studied the statement and could not find any link to a credible source of the claim other than screenshots of what was posted on social media which is being shared in various platforms gaining more attention
VERDICT:
The claim as we have found is FALSE.
