The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a security guard and two others for alleged conspiracy and vehicle theft in Ibafo area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.
According to Babaseyi, the suspects identified as Obada Ezekiel, 27; Emmanuel Timothy, 25; and Yaya Yakubu, 27, were arrested on Saturday at about 11:00 a.m., following a distress call and credible intelligence.
Operatives of the Ibafo Division tracked the suspects to a hideout where an ash-coloured Lexus RX 300 SUV was recovered.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Ezekiel, a security guard attached to the vehicle, allegedly conspired with the others to steal it from Lagos. They moved the vehicle to Ibafo for disposal.
“The suspects are in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism and appreciated members of the public for providing timely and useful information.
The CP reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and protection of life and property.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
