The Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, has alleged hijack of staff, and the letter sent from his office to the State House in response to the request for the provision of administrative code to the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Ogunjimi disclosed that the letter was hijacked by the embattled self-acclaimed Director-General of the purported fake agency, Adeyemi Adeniyi.
The AGF made the allegation during his address before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the fake agency scandal on Monday.
The committee had summoned Ogunjimi for questioning over his office’s alleged deployment of staff and engagement with the agency.
While noting that the controversial agency had only met with his office once, the AGF recounted how the State House had requested he grants Adeyemi an administrative code after his submission of alleged fake documents to the State House.
‘The only interface that this fake agency had with OAGF was in November 2024. What the fake agency did was to submit a fake Act purportedly enacted by the National Assembly, fake letter of appointment.
‘Everything that was submitted to the leadership in treasury was fake. Probably because they did not realise it was fake.
‘And because it was coming from the State House, the approval was waived and given for the administrative code to be issued.’ He said.
Ogunjimi thereafter disclosed sending a letter back to the State House in response to the request.
He alleged possible hijack of the letter by Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed DG of the controversial agency, stressing the State House’s Permanent Secretary would have noticed the forgery of the administrative code request letter if his office’s response had been tendered.
‘The letter that was written to the treasury for us give administrative code was responded back to the State House.
‘Unfortunately, as events unfold, it was discovered that the letter did not get to State House.
‘It was hijacked by the same man who claimed to be the DG.
‘If our letter responding to the request of the State House that administrative code to be issued, definitely, the Permanent Secretary of the State House would have noticed that the request for the administrative code was never issued by the State House.’ The AGF said.
On the alleged deployment of staff to the fake agency, Ogunjimi claimed that the two officers found in the agency were originally posted to the Chief Economic Adviser to the President.
The staff, according to the AGF, were under the supervision of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume.
Ogunjimi alleged hijack of the staff of the PFIPC as he reiterated that the record of their deployment showed that they were deployed to the office of the Chief Economic Adviser and not to the fake agency.
‘On the issue of the office of the Chief Economic Adviser, as far as treasury is concerned, those two officers were posted to the office of the chief economic adviser to the president under the supervision of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
‘Treasury never assume or wrote to defend that those two officers were being taken over by this fake agency.
‘The staff also never reported to the office that another council is taking over the office, and the name of the council has been changed. It was not known to the treasury.
‘As far as the treasury was concerned, we were dealing with a new agency, not the office of the Chief Economy Adviser to the President.
‘That was why when the request for five staff was delivered to us and we felt that five staff was too much for that small agency, it was decided that three should be enough.
‘It was when all this matter came to life that we got know that two of our staff were actually working or being absorbed by the fake agency.
‘We believed, based on the record available to the treasury that those officers were still with the office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President.’ Ogunjimi explained.
