The former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has ignited a new controversy after he shared images of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar with bandits’ negotiator, Tukur Mamu, urging the Directorate of State Security to investigate links between Tukur and high profile politicians.
His post has elicited reactions.
NPO reported the arrest of Mamu in Cairo, Egypt alongside his family members while on their way to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj and was repatriated to Nigeria.
Confirming the arrest, the Department of State Security Service, DSS said Mamu had a case to answer over the issue of insecurity in the country and other criminal offences.
In his reaction, the former minister and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress said the biggest breakthrough in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP is the arrest, repatriation and detention of Tukur Mamu who is believed to be an accomplice to the terrorists and a negotiator between them and some victim’s family.
The Chieftain of the APC commended the efforts of DSS and NIA adding that no stones must left unturned.
He urged the DSS to go after his (Mamu) associates and other highly placed individuals close to him especially his relationship with leading figures in PDP should be established.
“The biggest breakthrough in the fight against BH (Boko Haram & ISWAP (Islamic State of West African Province) is the arrest, repatriation and detention of Tukur Mamu who is an accomplice to the terrorists and who negotiates for ransoms on their behalf,” his statement reads
“I commend the noble & patriotic efforts of the DSS and NIA in this respect.
“I urge them to go after his associates and other highly placed individuals that are close to him & that have also spoken & negotiated for the terrorists in the past.
“Finally I call on them to establish precisely what the link is between him & and a leading figure in the PDP.”
