The Presidency has made mockery of former Edo State Governor, John Odigie-Oyegun, for chanting the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National Convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
NPO Reported that the ADC had on Tuesday held its convention with all its political leaders and members converging in Abuja in defiance to court’s order and warning from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Odigie-Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the APC who joined the ADC last year, was also in attendance at the convention.
While being invited upstage to address the party leaders and members, the ex-Edo governor attempted to cheer the crowd.
He however ended up chanting APC instead of ADC before being corrected by the party members.
The awkward moment had since sparked mixed reactions from members of the public.
Also reacting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, mocked the ex-APC chieftain.
Onanuga in a post shared on his X handle on Wednesday claimed that Odigie-Oyegun is confused.
He held that his heart is still largely with the APC.
Recall that Oyegun was part of the coalition movement that led to the emergence of the APC in 2013 that eventually ousted the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
In 2017, he came under intense criticism from various factions of the party including some powerful group of APC Governors for his handling of the party calling for his removal from office as national chairman of the party.
He eventually stepped down with Edo State lawmaker, Adams Oshiomole replacing him.
