Following the shocking incident surrounding the carting away of the Agemo statue, the leadership of Ijebu Ode has declared traditional Oro rites.
According to an X post from @ThinkYoruba_1st, the rites will be performed by 9pm.
Recall that NPO reported that a middled-aged man identified as Jeremiah Kosesochi Nwoke reportedly died while attempting to steal the Agemo statue located at the Itoro Roundabout in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Nwoke had reportedly made several attempts to uproot the statue situated near the roundabout leading to the palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
However, the deceased allegedly managed to uproot the heavily-padded statue, but died in the process of carting it away.
Following the development, residents of the town have been advised to stay indoors within the timeframe the rite is expected to be performed.
“Sequel to the occurrence that surround the carting away of Agemo statue at the early hours of today, the entire public is hereby informed that there will be traditional rite (Oro) tonight in Ijebu Ode by 9pm.
