Some gunmen believed to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday invaded the premises of a primary school in Enugu state, flogging its pupils and teachers for coming out on a Sit-at-Home day.
A video which surfaced online, showed the pupils and their female teacher being ordered to lay on the grounds while they were being flogged.
“I want everybody to obey the rules of Biafra. If they flog you today, you people will know that you don’t need to come out any day we have sit-at-home. You should not ever violate again the rules of government of Biafra.
“Any day they ask you to come out on the day of sit-at-home, tell them you won’t go to school because they have sit-at-home. That’s why we supposed to give you a little punishment.,” a member of the invading team was heard in the video telling the pupils.
Recall that another video had surfaced two days ago where some gun wielding men robed in red attires were seen invading a community where they attacked residents going about their daily duties.
The new wave of attacks by gunmen enforcing sit-at-home has surged after governments in the South-East told their citizens to ignore threats of attacks by IPOB men.
IPOB is an outlawed organisation.
A member of the Senate, Ifeanyi Ubah, had last week said openly that people should no longer obey the IPOB order to sit at home on Mondays.
Ubah had said that the people of the south east were loosing their commerce.
