A group of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s supporters have on Friday staged a protest against the political violence and killing in Osun state ahead of Saturday’s Governorship Election.
The group largely comprising of women took to the street in protest over the spate of the deadly clashes across the state.
While carrying placards and tree branches in a show of their displeasure with the ugly trend they also lent their voices as they stormed the Osun Police Command headquarters, challenging a formation of officers positioned in front of the facility.
Video shared on Facebook showed the women chanting before the stern-looking and armed policemen that they only vote and not engage war.
They also shoved their placards on the faces of the officers with some of the inscriptions reading, ‘Politics should not cost us our lives’, ‘One vote is not worth one life’, and ‘Vote your choice. Respect my choice. My vote is my power’ amongst others.
The leaders of the protest would later tender their petition to the Osun Election Police Commissioner, Erale Etaifo, who addressed the women.
