The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) 2027 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as his running mate.
This is coming few hours after emerging as the NDC’s flagbearer.
The former Anambra State governor who had over the months established ties with Kwankwaso, declared him as his Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Obi made the declaration during his acceptance speech at the NDC’s Presidential primaries in Abuja on Saturday evening.
He expressed readiness to rescue Nigeria with the former Kano governor.
“I want Rabiu Kwankwaso to join me as the Vice-Presidential candidate so we can rescue this country.’ Obi said.
The former Anambra state governor pledged to increase Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution by at least 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president in the 2027 general elections.
He also pledged to transform the economy, tackle insecurity, create jobs and end widespread hunger through targeted investments in key sectors.
Obi said his administration would be driven by transparency, productivity and national unity, stressing that Nigeria’s current challenges required urgent and decisive leadership.
He noted that the country continues to face significant socio-economic challenges, including insecurity, poverty, unemployment, hunger, and limited access to healthcare and education.
The ex-Anambra governor, however, expressed confidence that Nigeria could overcome its challenges through efficient resource management and visionary leadership.
