Olabode Ibikunle, a senior lecturer at Kogi State University, Anyigba, has died in a hotel room during a sex romp with a 22-year-old female undergraduate.
The incident, as confirmed by the state’s Police Command, reportedly occurred on Tuesday.
Ibikunle, a lecturer in the Faculty of Education was said to have checked into a local hotel with a 200-level student of Social Studies Education, Gloria Samuel.
Prior to their sexual encounter, the lecturer was alleged to have consumed several energy drinks.
The student would raise alarm shortly after the lecturer collapsed during the encounter
This prompted the hotel manager to report the incident to the Anyigba Police Division.
Ibikunle was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
However, the student had since been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lokoja for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
Police spokesperson SP William Ovye Aya confirmed the autopsy had been conducted but added that the results were not yet available.
He described the event as unfortunate and assured the public of a thorough investigation.
According to report, Ibikunle was known for his strictness in academic settings, but anonymous sources claim he had a reputation for demanding sex in exchange for grades, allegations that are now drawing increased attention.
The university has not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter.
