A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders have written to President Bola Tinubu, informing him of how the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, made the party lost the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
The group under the aegis of Osun APC Stakeholders accused Oyetola of being responsible for the election defeat to the incumbent governor and Accord Party’s candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
As contained in a letter dated 18th of August 2026, the stakeholders recounted how the former Osun governor cost the APC the election with his alleged appointment of his cronies, allies, and kinsmen, to federal political positions, creating divison within the party in the state.
Oyetola was also accused of single-handedly selecting all candidates for elective offices in Osun as against the advice of the party elders.
“We write as the Osun APC Stakeholders Forum, a pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) that holds the interest of our great party at heart.
“We commend Your Excellency for the leadership and commitment shown, both before and after the August 15 gubernatorial election in our dear state.
“It is with deep regret, therefore, that we report our loss, despite your unwavering support for the party’s success.
“We respectfully submit that the principal reason for our defeat was the conduct of the immediate past governor of the state and Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.
“In our assessment, he appointed cronies, allies and kinsmen to federal political positions and single-handedly selected all candidates for elective office in the state, disregarding the advice and counsel of party elders who urged him to carry other critical stakeholders along.” The letter partly read.
Listed in the letter were names of the alleged allies, cronies, and kinsmen of Oyetola who were appointed by the ex-governor.
Coupled with the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the Osun APC governorship candidate, Oyebamiji was also alleged to have single-handedly selected the three senatorial candidates, nine House of Representatives candidates, and 26 Osun House of Assembly candidates.
The stakeholders hekd that the pattern of exclusion left the party’s base disengaged and cost it the support of critical stakeholders and communities across the state’s three senatorial districts, contributing directly to the defeat on August 15.
