Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has banned the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the State following the killing of his aide, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade.
NPO earlier Reported that Ajagungbade was shot dead on Sunday in Ile-Ife by suspected hoodlums during a clash over the control of a garage in the ancient city.
The aide, who was reportedly contending for the takeover of motor parks leadership in the state, was murdered during a meeting with some loyalists and other NURTW officials.
He was shot in the head by the armed hoodlums who invaded the venue of the meeting.
Reacting in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke declared ban on NURTW activities while directing the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest all those involved in the killing and bring them to book.
The governor also ordered the immediate vacation of all motor parks by warring factions and directed security agencies to restore normalcy and ensure law and order across parks in the state.
As part of measures to prevent further violence, Adeleke announced the reintroduction of a Park Management System across the state.
The governor, according to Rasheed, is billed to issue an Executive Order to give legal backing to the new system.
