Nollywood veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, has announced the funeral for late fellow actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
This is coming barely six hours after the demise of the legendary actor who died on Sunday after prolonged battle with cancer.
NPO Reported that the daughter of the late actor, Halimah Taiwo, had broken the news of her father’s death during a livestream earlier today.
Confirming the sad development in a statement issued on his Instagram handle, Kosoko disclosed that Ogogo passed away around 3pm.
He thereafter announced that the late actor will be laid to rest on Monday in his hometown in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The funeral is slated to commence by 11am.
‘With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of ALHAJI TAIWO HASSAN, popularly known as OGOGO, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today Sunday, 23rd August 2026. At 66 years.
‘His remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State today where the Laying-in-State Ceremony will take place tomorrow

Ogogo’s death had since thrown the Nollywood industry into another round of mourning barely three months after the demise of actress, Temitope Osoba.
Nollywood stars and fans took to their social media handles to pay their tribute to the late Ogogo.
Leading the tribute was actor Femi Adebayo who, in a post on his Instagram handle thanked Ogogo for his impact and contribution to Yoruba cinema.

Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola, declared today another sad Sunday in the Nollywood industry as she mourned the demise of Ogogo.

Also reacting on her X handle, movie producer and actress, Funke Akindele, expressed sadness over Ogogo’s death.
She assured that his legacy will never be forgotten in the film industry.
