The Lagos State police has commenced investigation into the police officers who harassed and extorted three corps members of over N1 million.
This was disclosed by the Spokesperson, Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin.
In the video sighted by NPO Reports, the officers were seen requesting for their documents, after which a commotion ensued between them.
Meanwhile, the attention of the Police Command was called to the occurrence by an X user in a post, @YemieFash, stating that they were treated with firearms and then taken to Area C Police Command, where they were extorted.
According to the X user, the Corps Members’ offense was absence of a physical copy of their driver’s license
Reacting to this, SP Hundeyin wrote in response to the post,
“They are men of Area C, Surulere. The Area Commander has been contacted
“The men have been identified. They are being interrogated.
“However, we need more than a verbal accusation. The spy camera would have captured the exchange of money too, be it cash or transfer. Give us something to work it.
“Update as regards the outcome of the ongoing interrogation will be made available.”
